Have you ever tasted Spanish Pork Chops Guisado? Just by saying those words my mouth has watered about a thousand times over. This dish is one of my husband’s favorite comfort foods as well as mine, therefore, I would like to share with my followers and hope it becomes theirs as well. I am a big fan of Goya products and have you noticed I always use Sazon and Goya Adobo in all my dishes? Because it gives it delicious Spanish twist.
Tools you will need for this recipe: 1 Medium sized pot, 2 Mixing bowls, 1 fork to mix your paste, 1 large wooden spoon.
First we are going to make the paste and you can season 6 to 8 Medium cut pork chops with this recipe.
The ingredient you will need are –
1/2 Tsp Black Pepper
1 Tsp dry Granulated Garlic
1 ½ package of Goya Sazon
1/2 Tsp cumin power
2 Tbsp dry Parsley
2 Tbsp dry Oregano Leaves
1 Tbsp Adobo Goya
2 Tbsp Basil
2 Tbsp dry Cilantro
Place all dry ingredients into a bowel and add 2 Tbsp of olive oil, mix them together in a bowl with a fork to form a smooth paste. (If it is too sticky slowly add olive oil until it becomes a smooth paste) .
Next put your medium pot on the stove and gather these next ingredients-
2 cups of water
1 medium size onion (Roughly chopped)
3 fresh large garlic (Roughly chopped)
½ cup of green peppers (Roughly chopped)
½ cup of red peppers (Roughly chopped)
½ cup of yellow peppers (Roughly chopped)
½ cup of orange peppers (Roughly chopped)
1 small can of tomato paste (You can us any type of tomato paste)
Let’s Get Cooking
Next put the pork chops into a clean mixing bowl, then add season paste 2 tbsp at a time mixing well before adding more paste to the pork chops. Make sure that the pork chops are seasoned thoroughly. Don’t be afraid to get your hands dirty….
Once these steps are completed, pre-heat the pot with 3 tbsp of olive oil on low heat, then placed the medium onion and fresh garlic to simmer for 20 seconds and stir (make sure not don’t burn the onion and garlic).
Then start to put in the pork chops one at a time.
Now mix the pork chops with the simmered onions and garlic together in the pot.
Then add the all the peppers, one can of tomato paste, add two cups of water and mix in well. Let it cook for an 1hr and 30 min on low flame with the a cover on the pot. If you have it on medium flame it will burn. Check it from time to time, it should start to form into a thick sauce, when it does stir the mixture slowly to avoid breaking the pork chops into pieces. Please note that this dish takes time and it’s worth at the end. While that is cooking, you can make rice or salad to compliment this meal. I prefer mine with rice.
